Our Members
Much of the work of our members focuses on mechanisms governing control of blood flow to tissues, blood-tissue exchange, and microlymphatic function. Topics within this realm include endothelial cell and vascular smooth muscle cell function, angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis, microvascular responses to exercise, microvascular remodeling and repair following injury, atherosclerosis and thrombosis formation, inflammation and leukocyte-endothelium interactions, ischemia-reperfusion and free radical biology, capillaries and microvascular permeability, lymphatic physiology, microvessel mechanics, hemodynamics and rheology, neurovascular coupling, vasomotor control, tissue-microvessel interactions, biology of the glycocalyx and extracellular matrix, pericytes and stem cells, and instrumentation, methodology and experimental models to study the microcirculation.
Our society serves to actively promote
the careers of students and young investigators through multiple award
opportunities, sponsored Young Investigator Symposia, and networking events. We
are dedicated to providing opportunities for investigators, particularly those
at early stages in their careers, to network with experts in the field of
microcirculation research.
